Abstract

In this work it is addressed the formulation of a linear model of multistage stochastic optimization on integer-mixed variables to determine the respective sequence of dispatches and times when the battery of every bus will be charged in order to meet the initially proposed departure plan. First, real data on the operation of a bus line during normal operating months of 2019 are analyzed to understand the behavior of the tra c according to the time and day of the week, and thus separate these into groups of days with similar behaviors, and time slots within them. On the other hand, a time-expanded network is defined through Python programming, in which each trip, charging station and depot is represented by its respective node, and is assigned a time interval. The model contemplates planning the dispatches of two depots in a full day of operation, divided into certain time slots, in which there are certain behaviors of travel times and availability of buses. This model defines the sequence of each bus and the moments when it will charge its battery, minimizing total operating costs and penalties for not attending a trip. The model is solved directly with the Gurobi solver in Pyomo, together with other collections of Python software packages to formulate optimization models. The results of the instances where the model was tested show the relevance of the use of the stochastic model compared to the deterministic model. In addition, a sensitization is carried out on the battery charging times of the electric buses, to analyze the e ects on the model of decreasing or increasing the percentage of battery charge and the time that the bus spends on visits to the charging stations.
